People try to find all kinds of ways to justify homosexuality.  They are also trying to change the definition of what a homosexual is.

One way homosexual defenders try to excuse it is by asking “What if someone is a homosexual but does not act upon it?”

If they are a homosexual it is because their heart is wicked whether they act on it or not.  All sexual sin as well as all sin is a heart issue.

Mark 7:21-23-For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

The problem is not physical, genetic, hormonal, or DNA.  It is a heart problem.

Certainly if it is a damnable sin for someone to lust after someone of the opposite sex then of course it is a damnable sin for someone to lust after the same sex.

Matthew 5:27-30-Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.  And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.  And if thy right hand offend thee cut it off and cast it from thee:  for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Looking upon another with lust in the eyes of God is the same as committing adultery and the Bible is clear that no adulterer will enter into the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21).

All sex outside of marriage which God ordained to be between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6, Mark 10:6-8) is fornication and fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:5).

Jesus said your lustful eye and sinning hand will get you cast into hell fire.  One sin caused Adam to be kicked out of the garden.  One sin caused the angels to be kicked out of heaven.  When Jesus Christ was made a sin offering on the cross of Calvary for the sin of the world God the Father turned away from His own Son who had never sinned.

Habakkuk 1:13-Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity.

According to Jesus a lustful eye whether for opposite sex or same sex and a sinning hand will cause someone to be sent to hell.  Jesus is so serious about this He said it is better to pluck out a sinning eye and cut off a sinning hand than to end up in hell.

However according to the scriptures (Matthew 5:27-30, Matthew 15:19-20, Mark 7:21-23) you can pull the eye out, cut the hand off but the real problem is the heart.  It must be changed.

This is what it means to repent and be born again.  To have a change of heart, a change of mind, a change of will, a change of ultimate intention, a change of lifestyle.  Turning to Jesus means turning your back on your sin (Mark 1:15, Acts 20:21, Hebrews 6:1).  You cannot turn to Jesus without turning your back on your sin.

If you are going to be a follower of Jesus Christ you must deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23, Matthew 16:24).  You must die to your desires.  The alcoholic must deny himself his lust of alcohol.  The pervert must deny himself his lust of pornography.  The drug addict must deny himself his lust for drugs.  The fornicator must deny himself his lust of fornication.  And yes homosexuals included must deny themselves their lust for the same sex.

God calls homosexuality vile, unnatural, unseemly and reprobate (Romans 1:26-28).

It is not natural, it is vile and it is reprobate.

To become a homosexual one must first resist the truth of God (Romans 1:18), of creation (Romans 1:20), change the image of God (Romans 1:23), be given over to lust (Romans 1:24), and change the truth of God into a lie and worship and serve the creature rather than the creator (Romans 1:25).

While we must always have compassion on anyone in sin we must never be manipulated into allowing them to talk us into somehow excusing them from their perversion when they have committed all of the above to end up where they are now.

Romans 1:26-28-For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

The heart must be purified and changed.

Faith that saves purifies the heart.

Acts 15:9-And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

A purified heart will result in a purified lifestyle.

2 Corinthians 5:17-Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.

If your heart has been purified you will no longer be lusting after people of the opposite sex or the same sex.  If someone is still lusting after people of the opposite sex or the same sex then they have not repented.  They have not been born again.  They have not been made a new creature.  Their hearts have not been purified by faith.

To be delivered from any sin you must first admit that indeed it is a sin against God.  Believing you are born that way or that you are not responsible for the thoughts of your heart will never cause you to be set free.

Second you must admit you deserve hell for your sin and God is totally just in sending you to hell.

If you do not believe you deserve hell for your sin and God is just for sending you there then you have no fear of God (Matthew 10:28).

Without the fear of God you cannot hate your sin and depart from it (Proverbs 8:13, Proverbs 14:27, Proverbs 16:6, 2 Corinthians 7:1).

Most people claim to hate the sin when they really don’t.  They only hate the consequences of their sin.  That is worldly sorrow that leads to hell and not the godly sorrow that works repentance to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10).

No salvation without repentance.  No repentance without godly sorrow which involves feeling bad about your sin against God.

Third you must have faith that the Lord Jesus Christ can set you free from the bondage of your sin (John 8:32-36, Romans 6:18, Romans 6:22, Romans 8:2).

You must believe that the Lord Jesus Christ can deliver you from the power of sin as well as forgive you for the penalty of your sin (Matthew 1:21, John 1:29, Acts 3:26, Galatians 1:4, Titus 2:14).

You must believe He can purify your heart and make you a new creature.

You must repent or forsake all your sin (Luke 13:3,5, Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, Luke 24:47, Mark 1:15).  There is no forgiveness without repentance.  Repentance is not just confessing sin but forsaking sin (Proverbs 28:13).  No mercy from God without forsaking your sin.

Calling on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you from your sin (Romans 10:13).  Forget about silly quick little prayer formulas.  Get on your face and allow the Spirit of God to thoroughly deal with your heart and search you through and through.  Cry out to God from your heart to save you, deliver you, cleanse you, wash you and purify you.  He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.

Many great memories from this campus.  It was the first campus I attempted to preach at by myself back in September 2006 after I went full time.

While preaching here in January 2007 I met a young man of Egyptian descent who claimed to be a Christian but was admittedly living in sin.  I pressed him with the scriptures and he was delivered from sin, genuinely converted and for several years preached by himself every weekend in the club district locally.  He later attended one of the Southeastern Open Air Preacher’s conferences.

Another young man from another country opposed my preaching for a long time but through follow up correspondence he was eventually converted and became very supportive of the open air ministry.

I remain friends with an atheist who was particularly fond of us and had us over to his house to eat several times.

This campus requires advance permission and since 2008 the police have set up barricades around the preaching spot to protect us from the angry, hateful, intolerant students.

I was recently contacted by a young man named brother Jason who is from the Boca Raton area and has been open air preaching by himself and watching videos.  I invited him to come out.

We arrived at the preaching area around 12:30 PM.  I greeted the young man and we had some discussion.  I then walked over to the three officers present to protect us and greeted them.

I brought a banner today and began to unfurl it.  As I did so a student greeted me and told me he had been listening to me for four years and was graduating and going to medical school.

Brother Jason who came to meet me had also brought a banner.  Since I was in a discussion I told him to go ahead and start preaching.  I investigated him in our discussion and felt good about him preaching.

He preached for some time while I finished my discussion with the self righteous, truth rejecting, living for self medical student.  After that I got into another discussion with a young man who professed to be a believer and was cordial but when I gave him scriptures that contradicted his belief system he began to tell me God was bigger than the Bible.  He did not really want the truth.

Soon brother Jason stopped preaching and entered into a discussion with a few students.  There was no crowd so I decided to begin preaching and perhaps demonstrate some helpful ways to gather a crowd.

Fairly quickly the crowd mushroomed to around 75-80.  One overweight foul mouthed loud woman did not like my intolerance and ordered me to leave the campus, told me it was a good thing I was behind those barricades and stated to the crowd “I HATE THAT MAN!”

The preaching was going great as all the questions and comments were like lobbing an underhanded pitch to a home run hitter.  I easily refuted all of them with scripture and the crowd continued to grow in number and rowdiness.  They were fighting conviction.

A loud mouthed, long haired, dreadlock wearing, pot smoking, black male that I went toe to toe with last year was heckling me some and became so jealous and threatened that he ordered all the crowd to leave and threatened to start a petition to keep me off the campus because of preaching hate.  As he said this profanity rolled out of his mouth like a river.

Like obedient, politically trained robots afraid to disagree with a black person for fear of being labeled racist about 75 percent of the crowd left even though they did not really want to.

I answered questions from the few remaining and then turned the crowd of 25 or so over to the other preacher brother Jason.

A demonized muslim who happened to be a sports fan kept screaming behind me about Jesus and the fig tree.  He would ask all kinds of questions, never be quiet and then accuse me of not being able to answer me.

I rebuked him and his false demonic religion and ignored him.

I had some fruitful discussions on the sideline while brother Jason preached.  Gradually there was probably around 50-60 people surrounding the cage.

Somehow I ended up in front again.  I received some very good questions and to my amazement the students listened and did not interrupt.  I believe I was able to plant some good seeds and make some progress.

The preaching/discussion was going very well.  Soon brother Jason started preaching again so I moved into the background.  He did a very good job.

Generally I like more structure when preaching with other preachers and have one preacher preaching while everyone else stays quiet and watches so as not to distract.  Everything flowed very well today though and it is difficult to be real structured as a normal day because we are all in a small enclosed area and are surrounded by students asking each of us questions.

During this time I happened to have an excellent fruitful discussion with another muslim student standing next to the demonized muslim.  He asked good questions and listened intently to my answers.  I believe I cleared up much of his misunderstanding on several things.  Good seeds were planted.  The demonized muslim stayed quiet during this time.

This campus has a very large Jewish population so it is ironic they are so tolerant of such a anti semitic religion as islam but this must be the case in order to be politically correct.

My wife walked the breezeway away from the free speech spot where they have student groups set up with tables.  The muslim group gave her a copy of the quran.  I have been wanting a copy.

Brother Jason was preaching to a group of around 40 surrounding the barricades as the time reached 4:00 PM.  I asked him if he wanted to go have some fellowship before we made the long trip through traffic back and he said yes.  We had a good discussion after leaving campus.  He is a very sincere, and good hearted young preacher.

Weather today forecast a high of 52 with 13 mph winds.  Due to the weather and the unpredictability of this campus I decided I was not going to work real hard to get a crowd but just start preaching and generating discussion with those sitting around the tables and see how the crowd would build.

I dressed appropriately and began preaching in front of Cooper Hall at 1:30 PM.  I learned from the students that after my visit on Monday fellow campus preacher Gary Birdsong had preached here on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was quite dead when I began but I slowly began to gather a small group and had some good preaching and discussion.

Many campuses are loaded with professing Christian hypocrites and this campus has some but usually when I am preaching here I am dealing with rank sinners.  This campus is loaded with pot smokers, rock and rollers, homosexuals, atheists, etc. as well as the regular general heathen of fornicators, beer drinkers, cigarette smokers, porno watchers, etc.

There were several muslims as well as those defending islam in the crowd.  One homosexual young man who had heckled me most of the day on Monday and was back today claimed he grew up in a muslim country which I already had suspected.

The subject of islam was dealt with for some time as the crowd continued to grow gradually.  I still had many hecklers throughout the day but none threatened me with violence, or followed me around screaming in my face while attempting to preach, or attempted to drown me out with some kind of noise.  This has often happened on this campus.

Gradually the crowd grew to around 150 as the opposition and hecklers continued to escalate.  This was also before the class break.  I thought the meeting might blow wide open but for some reason it did not.  I did not think the crowd was that size until I looked at the pictures.

Gradually the crowd thinned down to around 30-35.  I continued preaching until around 3:45 PM and began to have discussion with those remaining and answer questions.  We had some very profitable discussion on topics such as “What about those who never have heard of Jesus”, and other religions.

A male student approached my wife and told her he was a former Catholic who is now an atheist.  He confessed to heckling me in the past and wanted to apologize.  She had a very good discussion with him.

We left the campus around 4:45 PM.

I have so many great memories from preaching on this campus.  In 2005 before I went full time I had read Jed Smock’s book “Who Will Rise Up”.  I contacted him via email and a month or so later we met them and preached with them at this university in Tampa.

After going full time I was assaulted by a rugby player on this campus and it made the school newspaper as it was reported he tried to choke me.  He tore my shirt and broke my sandwich board.  This event was talked about for years later and helped me get the attention of the students when I come to preach on this campus.

I have been on several radio shows on this campus over the years.  In 2009 I had been challenged to a public debate by a Baptist campus minister and pastor who kept heckling me.  The debate was videotaped and put on youtube and has been a blessing and teaching tool for many over the years.  I have received many testimonies from that debate.

All that being said I like preaching on this campus but am not particularly fond of the free speech spot by Cooper Hall.  This campus is also a very wicked campus and is one of the most unpredictable campuses.  I have had massive crowds and small crowds.  Sometimes it is very difficult to get the attention of the students on this campus and oftentimes you must build momentum during the week to really get this campus stirred.

I began preaching in front of Cooper Hall around 1:05 PM.  I gradually gathered a crowd other than the students who were sitting in the tables all around Cooper Hall.  I had good preaching and good interaction.

The crowd gradually grew to around 120-170 and I was able to preach and answer questions with very little heckling or opposition.  I felt my preaching was making great impact and headway.

Gradually the crowd thinned down to around 40-60.  I continued to be able to preach and answer questions effectively with minimal heckling, interference and opposition.

Gradually the crowd grew again to around 120-170 and the crowd mood remained the same.  Sure I had hecklers and the vast majority totally opposed me but no one got in my face, made violent threats, or followed me around while preaching.

The crowd gradually thinned down again to around 40-60 and I continued preaching until around 3:35 PM.  It was a very effective day as the Word of God went forth with free course for the whole duration of the preaching.

My wife was approached by a Ukrainian student who asked what was going on and why was everyone listening.  He did not speak English and was totally unfamiliar with the gospel.  He had a device that when you spoke an English word it gave the translation in Ukrainian.  She was able to witness to this Ukrainian student.  Praise God.

Another female sorority student came up to my wife to inform her that I was wrong about the sororities.  She basically told my wife there was no one getting drunk or having premarital sex in the sororities on this campus.  That only happens on other campuses.

I was surrounded by a small group of professing Christians before I left who asked me a few questions.  They were woefully ignorant of the Bible and came to rebuke me for rebuking sin.  I told them what the Bible said and rebuked them for their hypocrisy.

After a great day preaching at the University of Central Florida on Monday I was not able to make it back until today.  Tuesday weather was in the high 30’s in Orlando, and Thursday it was raining most of the day and I ended up being scheduled to preach at a church far from where we are staying and far from the University of Central Florida.

This campus is a very good Friday campus unlike many campuses that have few classes and few students on Fridays.

After driving over two hours and battling some traffic we arrived somewhat later than I wanted but I began preaching in the brickyard area around 1:25 PM.

There were all sorts of displays and tables set up in the area.  I began to gather a crowd and as soon as I did a group of male students got on the platform led by my chief Jedi heckler and began singing and doing a demonstration about the need for students to get flu shots.

Most of the crowd left just to spite me and the singing was too loud and too close by where I was preaching for me to continue.

On Monday I was preaching in front of the platform and had gathered a large crowd and was told to move as the crowd was blocking the entrance and told I needed a permit to speak there.

I decided to go and heckle my heckler and find out if they had a permit or not and when a crowd gathered would they ask the crowd to move.

I have a new Christianized suit jacket that reads in large letters on the back “Repent or Perish” and on the front it reads “Fear God” and “Jesus Saves”.

I began heckling the Jedi heckler leading the demonstration and the crowd doubled in size quickly to around 100.  They were upset but I let him know this is what he always does to me once I gather a crowd and I asked to see their permit.

Their was a camera filming and everyone could read my jacket.  During times when there was a break in the singing I would throw out Biblical one liners playing off of what they had been singing and talking about.

This demonstration finished at 2:00 PM and a police officer showed up with some adminstration.  I asked why the crowd was not asked to move this time as the other day and asked if they had a permit.

I have been preaching regularly on this campus since 2006 and have never had any problems with police or adminstration but the officer seemed to insinuate at times he thought I had a problem following rules.  I wanted to see a copy of their permit and wanted to find out for sure if the area they were sending me to was really the designated free speech spot for this area.  I also wanted to know why I would need a permit and they would not.

It turned out they gave me a copy of the policy and the grass area behind the Chick Fila is the designated spot for the brick area.  This is unconstitional as it is somewhat away from the chief place of concourse.

I decided to head over to the old green where I preached for years in front of the library and across from the fountain.

I began preaching in this spot around 2:20 PM and soon gathered a small crowd that continued growing.  It seemed I was able to do some very effective preaching and I had some playful hecklers that did not interfere too much but helped keep things moving and build the crowd.

The crowd kept their distance, heckled some, asked questions and listened to me preach and answer questions.  The crowd continued growing to around 80-85.

Someone from facebook contacted me to find out if I was preaching here this week and arranged to meet me.  I checked out their wall and they seemed to be ok but I suppose I was not thorough enough.

When the guy showed up and introduced himself I continued preaching for sometime and gave him an opportunity to address the crowd.  He let them know he was not a seasoned preacher and was somewhat timid and very non confrontational.

He lost 90% of the crowd within 5 minutes.  It is interesting to note his approach is the approach most everyone thinks we should take and need to take.  He was very non confrontational and nice to the students.  He tried to have civil discussion and answer questions about the Bible and ended up driving the whole crowd away within five minutes.  The crowd was so turned off by his approach they immediately scattered.

What draws crowds is the conviction of the Holy Ghost brought about by the preaching against sins, naming them, warning them of judgment and commanding them to repent and obey Jesus Christ.

The approach everyone wants and thinks we should take is highly ineffective.

He was a new preacher and this is typical and is how you learn to preach.  Get out and attempt to handle the crowd.  The experience sheds new light and revelation on armchair quarterbacks with zero experience.

Soon he was down to a few and I was having very good conversations on the sidelines.

A black male student had asked if I would be around until 4:30 PM when he got out of class.  He had been listening to the preaching all afternoon very intently.

He and a female student I had sharply rebuked on Monday while she heckled me were asking me good questions and I believe the female was also seeking the truth and God was dealing with her.  She told me she had read some things on my blog.  Now she was listening intently to what I had to say and we were having a good discussion.

Around 5:00 PM I prepared to leave the campus and shook hands with the guy who came out to meet me and preach.  I was very disappointed to find out he believed in “baptismal regeneration” and I told him I would not be able to preach with him in the future.
